Unibet at a glance: who it suits

Anders Ström set up Unibet in 1997 as a way to pass on his sports knowledge to other bettors. The brand became the best-known name in Kindred Group, which France's FDJ bought in October 2024; the enlarged group now calls itself FDJ United and counts over 33 million players across all its brands. Unibet combines a sportsbook with racing and streaming, a casino and live casino, bingo and poker, delivered through country-specific sites in over a dozen markets.

Unibet suits customers who want everything in one brand, especially those who play poker as well as betting on sport. Because each country has its own site, products, payment methods and even the operating company differ by market. Our assessment draws on licence registers, regulator announcements, the UK, Irish and Australian sites and app store listings. No account was opened and no bets were placed for this review.

Licensing and trust

Platinum Gaming Limited, a Gibraltar-registered company, runs unibet.co.uk. It holds UK Gambling Commission account 45322 (active when we checked in October 2026) and Gibraltar licences RGL 091 and 092. The same company serves Ireland under licence GRAI-0890-RB-26-0001 from the Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland. In Australia, unibet.com.au is run by Betchoice Corporation Pty Ltd under the Northern Territory Wagering Commission, and the other national sites listed on unibet.com operate under their own local licences.

Recent enforcement is the main concern. In October 2025 the UKGC fined Platinum Gaming £10m after finding that its systems failed to flag customers showing signs of harm, including one who lost £5,000 within 24 hours of registering, and that some customers previously closed over money-laundering concerns could reopen accounts. It was the operator's second UK enforcement action after a £2.9m penalty in 2023. In Australia, the ACMA penalised the Unibet business about A$1m in 2025 for keeping accounts open for people who had registered with the national BetStop self-exclusion scheme.

On the ownership side, FDJ United is a large parent group, but it is reshaping the online business. In April 2026 it ruled out leaving the UK despite falling revenue there, and in July 2026 it announced a review of its online markets that could lead to exits or disposals. In France, Unibet has become the group's only brand for online sports betting and poker, according to FDJ United's Q1 2026 update.

Sportsbook and odds

The UK book covers football from the Champions League down to the Championship, American sports such as the NFL and NBA, and UFC, Formula 1, rugby, cricket, golf, snooker, darts and greyhounds. Racing is a strong point: big occasions like the Grand National, Cheltenham and Royal Ascot are covered, and British and Irish races can be streamed.

Unibet TV shows a selection of live events, darts and NBA basketball among them, on the site and in the app while you bet in-play. Bet Builder links several picks from one match, and Cash Out lets you close eligible bets before the end when it is offered.

The product is broad and dependable rather than the deepest available, and the exact range varies between national sites, each of which has its own emphasis; the international site notes, for example, that Unibet's Swedish operation is the main sponsor of Sweden's top football league. We have not benchmarked Unibet's prices, so if margins matter to you, compare odds on the events you actually follow.

Casino and live casino

The UK casino offers a large slot library, with Megaways games, jackpot titles like Mega Moolah and a number of Unibet exclusives. Roulette and blackjack are there in standard and HD live-dealer form, and bingo has its own section.

Poker is the distinctive extra. Unibet Poker has its own app with tournaments, and the international site presents poker as one of the brand's three core products next to sport and casino. For customers who play poker as well as betting on sport, this is the clearest reason to choose Unibet. In Australia the offer is narrower: unibet.com.au is built around sports and racing betting and has no casino section in its main menu.

Website and mobile apps

Unibet offers three separate apps for sports betting, casino and poker on iOS and Android, published in the UK App Store by Kindred (London) Limited. When we checked in October 2026, the sports app averaged about 4.3 out of 5 from roughly 6,700 UK ratings, noticeably lower than the main apps of bet365, Betway or William Hill, while the casino app averaged about 4.6.

Three apps keep each product focused but mean more installing and switching if you use several. The poker app adds lighter touches, such as a large choice of avatars and missions, according to the international site. The mobile website carries every product, so you can avoid the apps altogether if you prefer.

Deposits and withdrawals

Under the UK terms, UK players can pay by Visa Debit, Mastercard debit or Maestro, or through online wallets like PayPal. Credit cards are not accepted, even when linked to an e-wallet, and every payment method must be in the same name as the Unibet account.

Other countries have their own cashier and rules, and we found no central list of methods, limits or processing times. Expect identity checks before withdrawals, as at any licensed operator, and check your local cashier before your first deposit. At most licensed operators, payouts go back to the card or wallet you paid in with where possible, so pick a deposit method you are also happy to receive money on.

Welcome offers and promotions

Unibet typically runs welcome offers for new sports, casino and poker customers, with each national site setting its own offer and conditions. Some regulators restrict bonuses significantly, so what you see depends on where you live.

Read the full terms before opting in, including minimum odds, expiry dates and any wagering conditions. Promotions are designed to encourage play, so decide your budget first and treat them as optional.

Customer support

Unibet's Help Centre deals with logging in, verification, payments and policy questions, and its Contact Us area shows the options for your market. The UK About page promises friendly support from local staff, and the UK sports app listing says customer service runs 24/7.

Opening hours and contact channels sit behind an interactive widget, so we could not verify them independently beyond the app's 24/7 claim. Support is organised per national site, so the experience can differ from one country to another. Under UKGC rules, British customers also have access to independent dispute resolution if a complaint stays unresolved.

Safer gambling tools

On paper the toolkit is among the most detailed we have reviewed. The UK safer gambling page lets you cap deposits, choose Reality Check pop-ups at 30-, 60- or 90-minute intervals, block a product for anywhere between a day and six months, take a Time Out or self-exclude; for a break from every UK site at once, it points you to GAMSTOP. A short player profile quiz with nine questions, links to GamCare and BeGambleAware and a recommendation of the BetBlocker software complete the picture, and Unibet says it aims to earn nothing from harmful gambling.

The enforcement findings in the UK and Australia show the gap between tools and practice: regulators found that warning signs were missed and self-excluded customers were not always blocked in time. Use the tools yourself rather than relying on the operator to spot problems, and contact GamCare, BeGambleAware or Gambling Therapy if gambling stops being fun.

Our verdict on Unibet

Unibet is one of the most complete products on offer: a broad sportsbook with racing and streaming, a large casino with live dealers, bingo and a poker room with its own app, all under licences in strict markets and backed by a large European group.

Its recent record is the reason it does not rank higher. Two UKGC enforcement actions in three years and an Australian penalty for self-exclusion failures show that its strong safer gambling tools have not always worked in practice. If Unibet is licensed where you live and you want sport, casino and poker in one place, it is worth considering, but set your own limits from the start.
