Betano at a glance: who it suits
Betano is the international betting brand of Kaizen Gaming, a group founded in Athens in 2012 and now headquartered in Malta. Kaizen says it is active in 20 markets with more than 13 million customers, and it builds its betting platform in-house. In Greece and Cyprus the same company trades as Stoiximan, while Betano is the name used almost everywhere else. Sponsorship deals with clubs such as FC Bayern Munich and Aston Villa have made it a highly visible name in European football.
There is no single global Betano site. Each country has its own locally licensed version, and what you can bet on, play and pay with depends on that local site. This review uses the German site and help centre for many concrete details, because it is well documented. Betano suits football-first bettors who like live streaming and in-play betting. It is not an option if there is no Betano site for your country. We have not opened an account; our assessment is based on registers, help pages and app listings.

Our rating
Very good: 8.8 / 10. Every operator is rated on the same five criteria and weights. The overall score is the weighted mean, rounded to one decimal. Read the method.
Licensing and trust
Betano's licences are held by different group companies market by market. In Germany, Betkick Sportsbetting Limited is on the GGL whitelist for betano.de with a sports betting permit since February 2021 and a virtual slot games permit since May 2023. In Portugal, Kaizen Gaming International Limited holds licences 017 and 018 from the SRIJ, and in Canada Kaizen Gaming Canada Inc. is part of Ontario's regulated market.
The UK is set up differently. Betano entered Britain in 2024 through a partnership with BVGroup, the owner of BetVictor, and the UK Gambling Commission register lists betano.co.uk as a white-label domain of BV Gaming Limited (account 39576). That is a common and legal arrangement, but it means the UK licence holder is not a Kaizen company, which is worth knowing if you ever need to complain or check who holds your funds. The 2024 launch announcement also said BVGroup would contribute its technology and operating capabilities, so the British product may differ from other Betano sites.
Brazil shows how quickly the legal picture can change. Brazil's Provisional Measure 1,394/2026, published on 25 September 2026, banned fixed-odds betting and online casino games nationwide; licensed sites had to go offline on 6 October and federal authorisations end on 25 October. The measure still needs congressional approval to become permanent, so check the latest position, but at the time of writing Betano cannot be used legally in Brazil.
Sportsbook and odds
Kaizen's own figures put the sportsbook at 44-plus sports, more than 40 of which can be bet on live, and about 1.5 million events a year across all of its markets. Football is the clear centre of gravity: top leagues and cups get extensive pre-match and live markets, and the brand's sponsorship portfolio reflects that focus.
Live streaming is a real strength. The German help centre explains that many events can be watched at no charge, on the site or in the app, once your account is verified, you are logged in and your balance is above zero. Availability depends on rights in each country, so not every match you see listed will have a stream.
Bet Builder lets you combine markets from one match, and cash out is offered on selected pre-match and live markets rather than everywhere. Two extras are specific to Germany: MyLive gathers the live events you follow on one page, and WettMentor proposes a bet slip once you enter a stake and the return you are aiming for. Tools like WettMentor are convenient, but a suggestion engine is still a prompt to bet, so use it within your limits. Odds are not part of our score here, since we have not carried out a systematic price check.
Casino and live casino
Casino games are only added where the local licence permits them. Kaizen's group-wide numbers are impressive, with more than 22,000 slots from over 140 studios and around 1,700 live tables, but no single country gets all of that.
The differences are large. In Germany, the federal permit covers virtual slot games only, so there is no live dealer casino on betano.de. In markets with full casino licensing the offer is much broader. If casino games are your main interest, check your local Betano site before signing up rather than relying on the group's headline numbers.
Website and mobile apps
Kaizen develops its betting technology in-house, which gives most Betano sites a consistent look and feel (the UK site launched with BVGroup's technology support). Kaizen Gaming International Limited publishes the iOS version, which averaged about 4.7 out of 5 from around 20,000 ratings on the German App Store when we checked in October 2026. It includes streaming, Bet Builder, cash out and the German MyLive and WettMentor features.
Android users, according to the help centre, either install from Google Play or download the app directly from Betano's own site; which route applies varies by market. A direct download is a normal route in some markets, but make sure you use the official domain for your country. The mobile website covers the full product if you prefer not to install anything.
Deposits and withdrawals
Each local site has its own cashier. German customers can choose between debit cards, Klarna, Trustly, PayPal, Apple Pay and Google Pay, as well as Skrill, Paysafecard and Aircash, which is a broad and modern mix. Whatever you use has to be in your own name.
Methods, minimums and processing times in other countries are shown in the local cashier and help centre, and they can differ significantly from the German list. We found no single international overview, which is the main reason this score sits below the sportsbook. Expect identity checks before withdrawals, as with any licensed operator.
Welcome offers and promotions
Betano usually has a welcome offer for new customers, but its form and conditions are set separately for each country, and some regulators restrict bonuses heavily. Before opting in, check the local terms for minimum odds, time limits and any wagering conditions.
Regular promotions tend to follow the football calendar. They can be a pleasant extra, but they are designed to encourage betting, so decide your budget first and treat any promotion as optional.
Customer support
Help pages are run separately for each country. In Germany you can use live chat at any hour (a virtual assistant answers first and hands over to a person), send a contact form, write via Facebook Messenger or call a German-language line between 10:00 and 22:00.
Contact options and hours in other countries are listed on the local help centre and may be narrower. Overall, Betano documents its support better than most operators we reviewed, which is reflected in the score.
Safer gambling tools
German customers can use the player protection area to cap monthly deposits (on top of the LUGAS limit that applies across all licensed operators), set limits on losses and stakes, restrict their account for anything from one day to an unlimited period, and self-exclude via the national OASIS register.
Group-wide, Kaizen Gaming adds tools to manage how long you play, short breaks and a questionnaire you can fill in anonymously to assess your own gambling. That is a solid toolkit. Set limits before your first deposit, and if gambling starts to cause problems, contact an independent organisation such as GamCare, BeGambleAware, Gambling Therapy or, in Germany, check-dein-spiel.de.

Betano FAQ
Is Betano licensed?
Yes, locally. Germany's GGL has approved betano.de, Portugal's SRIJ has issued licences 017 and 018 for betano.pt, and Betano is part of Ontario's regulated market. In the UK, betano.co.uk is a white-label domain of BV Gaming Limited, UKGC account 39576.
Who owns Betano?
Kaizen Gaming, which started in Athens in 2012 and now has its head office in Malta. It uses the Stoiximan brand rather than Betano in Greece and Cyprus.
Can I use Betano in Brazil?
Not at the time of writing. A provisional measure published on 25 September 2026 banned fixed-odds betting and online casino games in Brazil, and licensed sites went offline on 6 October 2026.
Is live streaming free on Betano?
Yes, for many events, provided your account is verified, you are logged in and you have a positive balance. Broadcast rights in your country decide which matches are shown.
Does Betano have an app?
Yes. There is an iOS app published by Kaizen Gaming International Limited, and an Android app installed from Google Play or the Betano website depending on the country.
What happens if there is no Betano site for my country?
Then you cannot open an account. Betano only accepts customers through its locally licensed sites, and you should not try to get around that, for example with a VPN.
Our verdict on Betano
Betano is one of the more polished sportsbooks available, with a football-heavy market range, free streaming for verified customers, well-built apps and better documented support and player protection than many rivals. Its licences in Germany, Portugal and Ontario put it firmly in regulated territory.
The limits are structural. Everything depends on your local site, the casino can be thin or absent, the UK version runs under another operator's licence, and Brazil shows how quickly a market can disappear. If Betano is licensed where you live and football is your main interest, it is a strong candidate; check your local site's terms and set limits first.
